We have been teaching people to dive for
30 years now. In that time,
we've learned a few things about what makes a happy successful diver. Because of that, we
can offer the most convenient and flexible schedules you'll find in any training
center.
Our instructors are extremely experienced and we make every effort to make your dive
education easy, convenient and fun.
The Open Water Diver course is where everyone begins their dive
education. In this program you'll have a great time while learning the knowledge and
skills necessary to become a safe, competent diver.
Becoming a PADI Open Water Diver involves training in three areas:
academic, pool and open water.
Academic Training:
The academic and pool training are conducted together in five modules.
So, each of the modules has a classroom and a pool component that's covered by it's
corresponding chapter in the PADI Open Water Diver Manual. Each classroom session will
include viewing a video tape, an instructor led discussion, reviewing the assigned
homework and a short quiz.
Pool Training
In the pool, we'll cover 4-6 new scuba skills each session. We start off
in Module 1 with the most basic skills, such as equipment assembly and build progressively
throughout the course. During the pool sessions, we'll furnish you with all the necessary
scuba equipment. However, it is advisable that you have your own mask, fins, snorkel and
boots as these items are so individual in terms of fit and personal comfort.
Open Water Training
Once you've completed all the requirements in the academic/pool modules,
you'll be ready to do the Open Water Training and become a certified PADI Open Water
Diver!
In each of these open water dives you'll get a chance to practice the
same skills you learned in the pool in a real diving environment with your instructor.
Training Formats
One of the things we've tried to do over the years is to make our course
schedules as flexible as possible. We can accommodate up to 12 students per module. At the
7th student, we add a second instructor. There are never more that 6 students to one
instructor. These classes are held on weekends. The hours for this schedule run from 8:00
am - 5:00 pm both days.
For those individuals whose time is severely limited we also offer
personal training. This involves a one-on-one course with an instructor and offers the
greatest flexibility in time and personal attention.
