Tawali

LAST CHANCE TO BOOK!!

We enjoyed a week of fabulous diving in equally fabulous surroundings. Tawali resort lies on the southern tip of Milne Bay, the very spacious guest bungalows are built high up in the rainforest overlooking the amazing “House Reef” and the outdoor dining and balcony area is perched right on the point with glorious views of the pristine blue water (perfect for your morning coffee or evening drink). There is a great variety of dive sites, for the closer reefs we used 22ft boats, doing 2 dives in the morning, back to the resort for lunch and then a 3rd dive in the afternoon. Amazing dives such as Deakin’s Reef and Lowadi were only 15 minutes by boat, here we enjoyed gorgeous soft coral walls and grottos, schooling barracudas and the most fascinating array of small and unusual critters, such as pygmy seahorses, frog fish, weird and wonderful sponge crabs and incredible nudibranchs. To dive the outer reefs we used “Tawali Explorer” a well set up, extremely comfortable 25m dive vessel. Tania’s Reef, Cobbs Cliff, Cherie’s Reef and Michelle’s Reef boasted 40m+ visibility, masses of colourful tropical fish, schooling reef fish, hundreds of garden eels as well as all the little critters. Lunch is served on board between the 2nd & 3rd dive – a fantastic day on the water! Our dive guides were excellent, not only guiding us around the dive site but finding all sorts of amazing life that we probably would have missed. Nitrox is available for all dives at a very reasonable rate. For non-diving days there are a few guided expeditions available – the skull caves, waterfalls, rainforest walks and a village tour. For non-divers the house reef offers great snorkelling ( it was also a really good dive ). And after all this exercise, you can enjoy exceptionally good food!!
